A new civil engineering and architectural design company this week opened its doors for business in Roscommon and is now available for the drawing up of plans for civil engineering projects big and small, from work on major infrastructural projects to planning applications and house extensions. The new firm has been formed by experienced engineers Andrew Morris and James Lohan and is based at the Square in Roscommon, over Sean Naughton’s auctioneering firm at the Castle Street end of Square. Both Andrew and James have worked on a range of infrastructural, commercial and residential projects, both locally and internationally. They cater for every aspect of civil engineering in County Roscommon, including planning applications, extensions, residential projects and commercial projects. The firm also specialises in SUDS design for drainage schemes and percolation tests to EPA specifications and guidelines and are FETAC qualified in that respect. Andrew Morris is also on the panel of qualified site assessors for County Leitrim. They are also FETAC approved to carry out site assessments for earthline stores and outwintering pads. Building energy rating is becoming increasingly important and Morris Lohan are qualified as Building Energy Raters for new build houses. Both Andrew and James can also help home builders in terms of a comprehensive preliminary design. Home owners are advised to choose carefully when deciding on building materials as this can determine what energy rating your home ultimately achieves. Consulting with Morris Lohan & Associates can ensure that your home, through the use of the necessary building materials, gains the highest energy rating possible. Mapping services are also available at Morris Lohan, be it for legal or engineering purposes. In terms of planning, both Andrew and James have a great relationship with the planning offices in Roscommon and adjoining counties, having worked with council planners on a number of projects to ensure that the approved plans were within the specification of the county development plan. The office at Morris Lohan & Associates is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm every day and both Andrew and James are very flexible in terms of site visits or meeting outside office hours.
