Pupils at Roxboro NS and Lisaniskey NS can look forward to even more fun at break times, following the allocation of funding for further outdoor play facilities at the schools. Funding of €15,000 was allocated under the Clár primary school outdoor play facilities enhancement scheme. €7,500 has been provided for play facilities at both schools and the funding was welcomed by Deputy Michael Finneran. Deputy Finneran said, ‘The funding of €15,000 was allocated under the Clár Primary School Outdoor Play Facilities Enhancement Scheme. The scheme is a jointly funded scheme aimed at improving outdoor play facilities in small rural primary schools in Clár areas. The type of projects being funded covers grassing/tarmacadam of play areas, the supply of goal posts, nets, basketball hoops, etc. and other recreational facilities for outdoor play areas.’ ‘Clár and the Department of Education and Science will fund 75 percent of the cost, supplemented by a 25 percent contribution from local sources up to a maximum of €10,000. Expenditure in excess of €10,000 must be funded entirely from local sources. Schools in the Clár areas were invited to make an application for funding under this scheme in 2006,’ concluded Deputy Finneran.
