Mohill success for Thomas Concannon

A 3-2 win over Mayo’s Martin Heneghan won Thomas Concannon his first ever I.N.D.O. ranking darts title at the Mohill Youths Singles last weekend. A 3-0 quarter final win over Kilkenny’s John Meaney set up a Semi final clash with his cousin Gary Concannon which he prevailed on a 3-2 scoreline. Last year’s Mohill winner Mark Finneran was beaten by Heneghan in the Last 8 on a 3-1 scoreline. Well done to Thomas! Youth Friendship Trophy 2008: Roscommon Darts Players will take to the International stage yet again when the 6th annual Youth Friendship Trophy takes place from May 23rd to the 25th in Derby, England. Ballinaheglish brothers David and Gary Concannon are one of three sets of brothers on this year’s 15-a side National Team. Mark Finneran from Ballymacglancy in the heart of Roscommon will also be representing the county. And for the 6th year in a row Ballaghaderreen’s Sean Fleming will don the green shirt. All four will have been involved in National events before but this is the first time that Gary Concannon and Mark Finneran will make appearances in an International event.     One noticeable and disappointing omission from the panel is Thomas Concannon who has been a very tough and skillful competitor at Youths and Senior level over the past year. Northern Ireland, England and Scotland stand in the way of a first Irish Friendship Trophy success. All four players and their travelling support are wished every success!!
