Midland Motor Club to run Autocross

Midland Motor Club will run the rescheduled annual Autocross event this weekend. The club had to postpone this event in August due to poor weather conditions.    This is a grass event and will be held beside Rhattigans in Kilrooskey, Co. Roscommon (off Roscommon/Lanesborough Rd.).    This event is a round of the National Autocross championship and should attract both national as well as local competitors. There are 9 different classes with many different types of vehicles involved from rally cars to special single seater vehicles also.    The competitors get a chance to familiarise themselves with the course first before the action starts.    Cars compete individually against the clock and each driver gets 3 heats with 3 laps in each heat. The event is against the clock and no passing is allowed.    A competitor will usually get four to six attempts to set his or her best time and the result is decided by the total time taken in these grass events.    Racing starts at 12 noon on both days and all are welcome, so come along and view a motorsport with a difference. Following the prizegiving on Saturday a barn dance will be held beside Rattigans bar.
