Michael’s mission

A native of Feevagh in South Roscommon, Michael Finneran is now the established Fianna Fail standard-bearer in County Roscommon, having been involved in politics for over a quarter of a century. A former Fianna Fail County Councillor and Senator, he was elected to Dail Eireann in 2002. Married to Betty, the couple have four children: Trevor, Michael Junior, Martina and Sharon. They live at Riverside Avenue, Circular Road, Roscommon.  It’s the morning after the night before.    Fianna Fail TD Michael Finneran says he enjoyed the Roscommon People Election Debate, held the night prior to this interview being conducted.     During a discussion on the future of Roscommon County Hospital in the Abbey Hotel, Deputy Finneran had reiterated that he was placing his ‘political life’ on the line in respect of his stance on the facility.    I asked the Fianna Fail TD what placing his political life on the line means in real terms.    ‘Well, in August, 2006 I publicly stated that I would not support a (Fianna Fail led) Government if it changed its mind on Roscommon Hospital. I said I wouldn’t vote with the Minister for Health who proposed such a change
