Michael to compete in Ireland World Rally Championship

Midland Club member and Rahara, Co. Roscommon native Michael Murray is set to contest Ireland WRC round from the 15th-18th of November. Michael has competed all over Ireland, the Isle of Man and in Belgium. However, in 2001 he contested his first WRC event over the famous stages of Neste Rally Finland.        There are considerable extra costs involved in competing in an event such as Rally Ireland and Michael is fortunate to have a number of sponsors in Bestquote.ie, Dowshu Electronica, Premier Sports Boats and of course his own company Communications Design who specialise in Digital CCTV Installations.    Michael will have Ray Fitzpatrick from Laois as navigator for the event. In the lead-up to this rally, Michael and Ray will have become familiar with the stages by driving them on Monday and Tuesday prior to the event, in which they can amend their pace notes to ensure they make every second count.      Michael will drive in the Group N production class, which allows for minor modifications to his Mitsubishi evo, which can include upgraded brake discs and suspension. They will also have a back-up team who will look after the car at each service halt, usually between every 3 or 4 stages. This involves checking the car’s set-up, changing tyres and making other alterations to get every last ounce of power out of the car.
