Two leading Galway attackers have taken the honours for January and February in the Connacht GAA Writers Personality of the Month Awards scheme. Michael Meehan’s outstanding form in the early stages of the FBD League -won by Galway in February – has seen him pick up the award for January. Another free-scoring forward – Joe Canning – has been honoured in February for his excellent performance in helping his club Portumna defeat Loughmore-Castleiney in the AIB All-Ireland club hurling semi-final.
