Members of the author John McGahern’s family will unveil a commemorative plaque to the late writer at The Barracks, Cootehall, at noon on Saturday 14th July. The plaque was erected by Cootehall Community Development Group as a result of an amenity fund grant from Roscommon County Council and local contributions received at fundraising events. John McGahern and his siblings had a close association with Cootehall, as they once lived at the Barracks where their father was local sergeant. All invited to attend.
