Noel and Mark McDermott are the number one seeds as the Club 4Ball reached the last 16 at Carrick-on-Shannon. The McDermotts will take on 16th seeds Pat King and Andy Connellan as action continues in the competition.
This weekend there is Lynch Cup and interclub action on Saturday and Sunday. Carrick take on Strandhill over two matches in the All-Ireland Fourball tournament in Carrick.
In Strokestown, Gerry Houlihan, Ollie Killeen and Liam Rosemond won the 3 Ball Rumble recently while Houlihan also won the senior competition on the 19th of April. Austin Trappe took the men’s competition on the 26th while Rose Lally won the ladies’ on the 30th.
In Roscommon, Liam McNeill took the men’s competition ahead of PJ Moran and Roger Hynes, with Alan Craven taking the gross score. Margaret Kennedy won the ladies’ competition ahead of Marguerite Farrell.
Across in Castlerea, Dympna McGarry won last week’s ladies’ competition with 41 points ahead of Áine Mhic Suibhne on 38 points and Maura Tully also on 38 points.
In Athlone, Rhona Fitzgerald took the first major of the year ahead of Chaba Carney with solid performances from Cathryn Mannion (Gross) and Bridie Meagher (3rd place).
Not to be outdone, Paddy O’Boyle (38 points) took the men’s competition ahead of Niall Carroll (36 points) in what was a busy week of golf at the club.
