McDermott’s still top darts table

County Roscommon darts news: Results November 23 rd (Week 6) – Flanagan’s, Castleplunkett 3 The Elf Inn, Elphin 4.    The Elf Inn pulled off a fine win at Flanagan’s in Castleplunkett last Tuesday night. Martin Murphy included an impressive 14-dart leg in his 3-1 win over Francis Hussey to get the ball rolling.    Noel Ryan levelled matters at 1-1 before his side went on to lose the next two games. Matthew Hynes included his own 14-darter and John O’ Connor made it 3-1 to The Elf Inn.      Martin Kearney beat Padraig Beirne, adding to Flanagan’s’ account. But Tommy Beirne sealed the win and a bonus point in a 3-0 victory over Gerry Ryan.    Brian McCormack ensured things did not get worse for Flanagan’s as he took the final game of the night with a 3-0 win over Richard Southam, who had the only 180 of the night.    McDermott’s of Ballinaheglish came out the better of this tight and entertaining clash in Ballinaheglish last Friday night. The standard of darts was such that five of the seven games played on the night ended 3-2.    David Concannon beat Sean Fleming in an outstanding game to gain an early lead for McDermott’s. David opened up with a 13-darter and finished with a 90 outshot on the bull.    Joe Eliffe, who included a 16-darter, increased that lead with another 3-2 win over Denis Coffey.    Martin Fleming won a high-scoring tussle with Gary Concannon – and Spel’s were even again when Jimmy Finn won the fourth game,  again on a 3-2 scoreline.    Thomas Concannon was in excellent form to see off a credible challenge from Spel’s’ Patrick Tansey. Mark Finneran and Gerry Fallon secured the 5-2 win, beating Benji Hayden and Frank Duffy respectively.    Mark Finneran 130, Sean Fleming 74 and Denis Coffey 87 were some of the other high outshots on the night.  Mac’s, Roscommon 3 Creaton’s, Loughglynn 4. Creaton’s of Loughglynn claimed a valuable win at Mac’s of Roscommon on Friday night. But the win was not secured until the very last game when Padraig Finan beat Jason Hoare. Joe Crawley fired in a 119 outshot in his win over Gordon Feeley, his highest of the League so far.    Stephen Victory had his first win with a 3-0 win over Eugene McDonagh who was in his first competitive game of the year.  Murray’s, Knockcroghery 7  Kate’s, Castlerea 0.  Murray’s continued their winning run when they won their 5th league match in a row on Monday in Murray’s. Murray’s went 2-0 up thanks to Mick Egan and Pat Byrne, who both remain unbeaten in the league so far. Then came the best game of the night, with Paul Carton beating Nigel Revins 3-2 in a tight, high-scoring contest. All games went with the throw, with Carton edging out Revins in the decider.    Noel Connaughton sealed the win on the night, with a 3-1 victory over James McIntyre. James Reilly, Damien McSharry and Tony Lyons then ensured maximum points for the hosts, cruising to victory in their respective games. Monaghan at the weekend. A host of top International players including reigning and former world champions took part in the event.    In the Ladies section Russia’s Anastacia Dobromosolova took the title and a first prize of €3,000. Phil Carney and Kathy Fleming were Roscommon’s representatives. Both were beaten in the last 32.    England’s Andy Fordham and John Walton –  world champions in 2005 and 2001 respectively – were two of the many stars on show in the mens section. Dutch player Mario Robbe beat Scotland’s Mike Veitch 8-4 in the final to claim the title and a top prize of €10,000.   Martin Murphy, Martin Fleming, Tommy Beirne and Sean Fleming all travelled from Roscommon. Murphy was beaten 5-3 in his first round match. Sean Fleming won 5-0 in his first round match but was beaten 5-2 by Louth’s Anto McCracken in the Last 32. Martin Fleming was beaten in the Last 64. After winning 5-0 and 5-1 in earlier rounds – he was beaten 5-2 by Sligo’s Sean McGowan.
