The annual Mass at Cluain Patrick, St. Patrick’s Holy Well, will be celebrated on Monday, 10 th September at 7 p.m. Cluain Patrick is one of the most peaceful places in the parish of Athleague. For centuries, long before Christianity came to Ireland, people have made their way to the Holy Well to rest and give thanks to God for all they have received, and no doubt, to ask for favours for themselves and their families. Next Monday’s celebration gives us all a chance to walk in the footsteps of those thousands of people who down through the ages have felt drawn to this ancient Celtic place of prayer. Cluain Patrick is for everyone, no matter what his or her religion or belief. Each of us has a secret prayer, a deep desire for something for ourselves or for others. We all feel a need to speak to that ‘inner voice’. Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to live in this beautiful part of the world may occasionally thank God for the privilege of doing so. Why not try to get to Cluain Patrick next Monday evening at 7p.m. to do some, or even all, of the above?
