Damien Martin and Rikki O’Gara won their first round match of the 60×30 Senior Doubles championship last Saturday against Limerick brothers Seamus and Padraig O’Carroll in Moycullen, Co. Galway.
The O’Carroll brothers are both former All-Ireland Minor champions and Seamus recently made the Senior Singles semi-final, so a hard encounter was expected. The St. Coman’s pair lost the first game 21-17 before powering back to win the second 21-5 and the third 21-17. Next up will be the reigning champions from Dublin, Eoin Kennedy and Carl ‘Boo’ Browne in Abbeylara, Co. Longford on Saturday, 17th September.
