Castlerea There were 650 cattle on offer, with increased numbers of weanlings on offer and a similar trade to last week. A very good trade for the quality store heifer while the cow trade remained unchanged. Heifers: Red Lim 445 kgs €845, AA 490 kgs €955, AA 475 kgs €465, Sim 470 kgs €955, Ch 605 kgs €1,115, Bl Her 540 kgs €1,000, B. Lim 440 kgs €902, Red Lim 440 kgs €847, B. Her 320 kgs €670. Dry Cows: Ch 720 kgs €1080, Ch 650 kgs €930, AA 545 kgs €735, Ch 725 kgs €1,110, AA 555 kgs €685, Fr. 395 €735, B. Her 580 kgs €770. Cows with calves at foot made from €770 to €1,570 per head. Sim 340 kgs €580, AA 295 kgs €445, Ch 360 kgs €667. 180 bullocks were on offer at the bullock sale on Monday, March 31st and there was a very good trade. Bullocks made from €300 to €645 over their weight and there was almost a full clearance. Roscommon There was a big number of good quality heifers at the special continental sale at Roscommon Mart and they met with a very strong trade. All classes of cattle sold well, with lots of customers around the rings. The sheep also met with a steady trade with prices similar to the previous week. Heavy bullocks 500 kgs and over made from €350 to €935 over. Prices: Ch 715 kgs €935, 2 BB 563 kgs €1,150, Sim 735 kgs €1,580, Ch 590 kgs €1,250. Store bullocks up to 500 kgs made from €295 to €590 over. Prices: 2 Ch 383 kgs €940, 3 Ch 353 kgs €860, 2 AA 410 kgs €760, 420 kgs €840. Beef heifers made from €350 to €660 over. Prices: Lim x heifer 360 kgs €600, BB x heifer 490 kgs €765, Lim x weanling heifer, 345 kgs €665, Lim x weanling heifer 285 kgs €580, AA x weanling heifer 295 kgs €615, Ch x weanling bull 220 kgs €515, BB weaning bull, 495 kgs €1,250, Ch x weanling bull, 335 kgs €685, Ch bullock 555 kgs €990, Lim x bullock, 585 kgs €995. Sheep: There was a large number of sheep on offer. Spring lambs and hoggets were a slightly easier trade to the previous week. There was good demand for ewes with lambs at foot. Spring Lambs: Lamb 45 kgs €95.50, two lambs 55 kgs  €105, six lambs 46 kgs €101.50, seven lambs 38.5 kgs €88.50. Hoggets:13 hoggets 55.5 kgs €103, 24 hoggets 56 kgs €102.50,11 ewe hoggets 41 kgs €70, ten hoggets 50.5 kgs €90, seven hoggets 48 kgs €85.50. Stag Ewes: Easier trade to previous week, very large number on offer. Prices ranged from €33 to €72.50. Ewes with Lambs at foot: One first crop ewe with single lamb at foot €110, three second crop ewes with five lambs at foot €122, four third crop ewes with six lambs at foot €85.
