Heifers: Hereford heifer ’05 465 kgs €640, Ch heifer ’06 380 kgs €620, Lim heifer ’06 300 kgs €570, two Ch heifers ’05 500 kgs €780. Weanling show and sale: Two Ch bull weanlings 325 kgs €640, three Lim bull weanlings 335 kgs €690, B. Blue bull weanling 300 kgs €665, Lim bull weanling 245 kgs €550. Sim heifer weanling 405 kgs €690, Lim heifer weanling 355 kgs €560, Ch heifer weanling 240 kgs €435, two Ch heifer weanlings 400 kgs €590. Sheep: There was a very large number of sheep on offer compared to the previous week. Increased demand for stag ewes and factory and butcher’s lambs. Store lambs and breeding ewes were a similar trade to previous week. 15 lambs at 48.5 kgs €95, 19 lambs at 51 kgs €99, 22 lambs at 45 kgs €86, 20 lambs at 42 kgs €77, 18 lambs at 52 kgs €96.50, 14 lambs at 40 kgs €74.50 and 11 lambs at 40 kgs €66. Stag ewes: Heavier ewes met with firm trade. Prices ranged from €35 to €64.50. Breeding ewes: Hogget ewes ranged in price from €87 to €117. First crop ewes ranged in price €70 to €96.50, second crop ewes ranged in price from €64 to €88.50 and third crop ewes ranged in price from €55 to €68.50. CASTLEREA 825 cattle on offer. A special sale of Aberdeen Angus heifers was held in conjunction with the usual sale. There was good demand for the quality store heifers while prices for the other classes of stock on offer were unchanged. Good numbers of weanlings on offer with the quality slightly better than previous weeks and this was reflected in the slightly improved trade.
