In association with Roscommon People She confesses to having a lucky streak, but when her daughter Mary suggested that she would enter her for the Roscommon People makeover for Mother’s Day, Margaret Haughey from Correal, Athleague thought no more of it until the following Tuesday when the phone rang and she was told that she won the competition! “When I saw it, my daughter asked would I do it. I am lucky but I was thrilled to win it,” said Margaret Haughey. A mother of six and grandmother of three, Margaret has been a farmer’s wife for the past 37 years. The day began with Margaret dropping in to the Roscommon People office at 12 noon on Tuesday, where she was introduced to style coach Mary Dolan from Taughmaconnell, Ballinasloe. Mary has trained as a style coach in Dublin, receiving her diploma from the Style Coaching Institute of Ireland. She is also qualified in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NIP) and aims to motivate people from where they are to where they want to be and rid themselves of limiting beliefs. Mary works through group sessions and also one-to-one sessions and took on the challenge of a Mother’s Day makeover for a Roscommon People reader. Mary and Margaret then headed off to the Royal Hotel in Roscommon where they discussed the best colours and styles for Margaret, before heading off for the shopping end of the trip which was focused on Wide Variety at Harrison Centre, Roscommon. In Wide Variety, Margaret viewed and tried on a number of outfits, before deciding on a black skirt and top. For the complete makeover picture, Mary persuaded Margaret to try on the jacket and hat to finish off the outfit. Then it was off to Connell’s for the jewellery and into Carrie Bradshaw’s for the shoes, before Margaret went to Galaxy, where she had a new hairstyle and make-up. Margaret was delighted that all the shops involved were so near each other and with such friendly staff — and she was particularly delighted by the friendliness of the girls in Galaxy. “Grand and relaxing” was how Margaret summed up her day and we want to congratulate everyone involved in her transformation on the day, the people in Wide Variety, Galaxy, Connell’s and Carrie Bradshaw. With Mother’s Day on Sunday, Margaret thinks that a makeover would be ideal for many of the county’s mothers. “It would be lovely if some other family would treat their mother to something like it,” she concluded. Mary Dolan is running a one-night style coaching course in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon on March 20th, 2007. Places are limited to 10 people, so book early! Mary can be contacted on (087) 2598804.
