Marc in great ‘voice’ ahead of live performance

Boyle native, Marc Egan, is all set for his biggest live performance to date as he represents Team Kian this weekend on The Voice of Ireland.

Marc has impressed so far but faces a new challenge in the shape of Kian’s song choice this weekend! Marc is set to sing a cover of ‘Rebel Rebel’ by the late, great David Bowie.

“With this song I have to do an awful lot of practice. It’s a song by a legendary artist,” Marc told the Roscommon People recently.

“Kian has chosen the song and I’m very happy with it, but I’m also very nervous,” he continued, “I’ve never sung the song before but it’s one of my favourites.”

Marc added that while the blind auditions were “very nerve-wracking in front of the cameras”; the live performances presented an altogether different challenge. He said: “With the ‘lives’ there is a lot more production. You have to be on top of your game.”

Whatever happens this weekend, Marc will keep his feet planted firmly on the ground. “I’m still gigging around Boyle and I’ll even be gigging on Sunday after The Voice!” he assured us.

Of course his mini fan club, which includes his daughter Amber, parents, two sisters and aunt, will keep him from getting too carried away. It’s Amber’s first birthday this Sunday, and her daddy will be hoping to give her the perfect birthday present when he takes to the stage this weekend.

You can see how Marc gets on this Saturday at 3.45 pm on RTE 1.
