Man dies following Ballydangan crash


A Creagh man in his 50s died following a road traffic accident on the old Athlone to Ballinasloe road (R446) at Ballydangan last Thursday (2nd).

  The incident occurred shortly after 10 am when two vehicles, a car and a bus, collided. The driver of the car, Thomas Campbell, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A child and a female occupant of the vehicle were removed and brought to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe were they were treated for injuries described as not life-threatening.

  The driver of the bus and three occupants also sustained injuries and were also removed to Portiuncula Hospital, though there injuries were described as not serious.

  Mr. Campbell’s Funeral Mass took place on Sunday in Creagh with burial afterwards in Creagh Cemetery. Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward to help them with their enquiries on 090-6638300.
