Castlerea Musical Society has been nominated in the Best Choreography category in the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) Awards. The musical society has been in existence for 37 years and has taken part in the AIMS awards on many occasions in the past. AIMS sends an adjudicator to the one of the society’s performances each year and based on this report, societies get nominations in different categories, from front of house, stage management to performances on stage. Castlerea Musical Society has achieved nominations and awards over the past seven years but on Saturday 26th May they received a nomination in the category Best Choreography. This is a major boost to the society as it includes all members of the cast for their performance in the show ‘Hot Mikado’ staged last November in River Island Nite Club. It has created a great buzz in the town and everyone is delighted for the Musical Society. Members of the Musical Society are travelling to Killarney for the weekend of June 15th where the awards are announced on the Saturday night. This huge achievement for the Musical Society will hopefully entice more people to get involved with the Society, be it in any category, back stage, front of house, performing on stage – all parts are available to people willing to join the society. Congratulations to all involved with this success.
