Major sporting weekend ahead

It’s another huge weekend in sport and the latest classics, The English Oaks and Derby, will be run in Epsom on Friday and Saturday. Both big races have Irish favourites, with Jim Bolger’s Lush Lashes heading the market for the Oaks, and Dermot Weld’s Casual Consent the leading horse in the Derby betting.   Epsom Oaks market (Friday); 11/4 Lush Lashes, 9/2 Chinese White, 11/2 Katiyra, 10/1 Clonange, 12/1 bar.   Epsom Derby market (Saturday); 100/30 Casual Consent, 5/1 Curtain Call, 11/2 New Approach, 7/1 Tartar Berris, 15/2 Tajawaweed, 10/1 bar. Watch out for New Approach in the Derby. He could represent good each-way value.   In soccer, Euro 2008 starts this weekend. Selected games: Germany 4/7 v Poland 6/1; Draw 11/4. Holland 2/1 v Italy 6/4; Draw 2/1.   In GAA it’s a huge weekend in the championships. Betting as follows -Football: Westmeath 4/7 v Offaly 7/4; Draw 8/1. Tyrone 1/3 v Down 11/4; Draw 8/1. Dublin 1/6 v Louth 5/1; Draw 10/1. Hurling: Cork 10/11 v Tipperary 11/10; Draw 10/1. Bet of the Week: Our bad run continued last week as Wexford came back from the dead to beat Meath. We are now just €66 up for the year to date. This weekend we are putting our trust in Lush Lashes in the Oaks on Friday at 11/4 or better to land the spoils and get us back on track.
