Roscommon Arts Centre is delighted to announce that it will play host to wonderful workshops for exam students examining the text of Macbeth this month. This is a unique opportunity for students to review and discuss the play in a workshop setting with professional actors from Storytellers Theatre Company, who are renowned for their re-working of work such as this. The 90 minute workshop has limited capacity to ensure the students benefit from the experience, during which time key scenes from Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ will be explored in a unique and immediate theatre experience, which focuses completely on the text without the distractions of set, lighting and costumes. To intensify the experience the scenes will be played ‘in the round’, with three professional actors and a director presenting each scene. The scenes will then be discussed focusing on character interpretation, language structure, possible themes and the cultural/political context in which Shakespeare was writing. Time will be allowed for interaction and debate and students will be encouraged to suggest alternative approaches to a scene. The actors will then take these ‘notes’ on board and recreate the new interpretation of the same scene. The workshop dates are Tuesday 20th & Wednesday 21st March at 10am and 12 pm daily and tickets are priced at €6.50 per student. Book today on (090) 66 25824.
