Low temperature warning in place for Roscommon

Met Éireann have, this afternoon, issued a Status Yellow – Low Temperature/Ice warning for Roscommon along with the rest of the country.

The warning is valid from 6 pm this evening (Monday) to 11 am tomorrow morning and people have been advised that is will become very cold this evening, tonight and on Tuesday morning with severe frost and icy stretches, with the coldest temperatures over southern half of the country.

Met Éireann have also said that it will create difficult travelling conditions and the low temperature can also create issues for vulnerable people and animals.

This warning comes on top of a Weather Advisory for Ireland with was issued on Sunday morning which stated that “Arctic air will bring winter hazards this coming week. Sharp to severe frosts expected with icy stretches on roads and pavements.

Some sleet or snow will occur at times too, mostly for northern areas, and especially for hills.” This advisory is in place until 12 pm on Friday.
