Louis and Maree Conlon open new pharmacy in Athleague village

A new pharmacy, called Conlon’s Chemist, has just opened in the village of Athleague. Run by Louis Conlon and his wife, Maree, it is the latest addition to the small but thriving village, just five miles from Roscommon town.

Prior to its opening, there was no pharmacy between Roscommon town and Ballygar, a distance of 19 km.

Conlon’s Chemist will help to bridge that gap and serve a number of outlying areas, such as Fuerty, Rahara, Castlecoote and Donamon. Conlon’s opened in early September, and is open from 9 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturdays. An after-hours service is also available in emergency cases.

A wide variety of services and products are on offer. Prescriptions can either be made in the store or delivered to the customers’ home or businesses. As the winter sets in, flu vaccinations are sure to be in great demand, and Louis will be more than happy to provide this service to people of all ages.

You can also have your blood pressure and blood sugars checked in-store, along with your body mass index (BMI). Ladies will be delighted to learn that the chemist stocks various top-range perfumes, such as Elizabeth Arden and Chanel.

Another service will be added next month, when a treatment room, located on the premises, opens it doors. A physical therapist and chiropodist will run clinics, with sessions available by appointment.

Being located on the main road from Roscommon town to Galway means that Athleague has a lot of passing traffic. This will add to the success on Conlon’s and ensure that, like many other businesses in the area, it thrives.
