Local success at recent Connacht Regional Irish Restaurant Awards

There was plenty of local success at the Connacht Regional Irish Restaurant Awards 2024 as winners from around the county were unveiled during the award ceremony held at the Knockranny House Hotel in Westport on Wednesday, March 20th.

The event brought together culinary talents and hospitality greats from across the province to celebrate Ireland’s food-led hospitality industry.

Local establishments such as Rogue & Co Café in Roscommon Town won the award for Best Café while J. Beirne’s Bar in Strokestown took home the Pub of the Year award.

Hester’s Golden Eagle from Castlerea won Best Gastropub and the winner of Roscommon’s Best Restaurant went to The Purple Onion Kitchen in Tarmonbarry. The full list of Roscommon winners can be found below.

The Irish Restaurant Awards – now in its 15th year – garnered over 160,000 nominations from the public for restaurants, cafés, and other food service establishments across the country this year, setting a new record for participation.

Following the completion of all regional events and the announcement of county winners, attention will turn to the unveiling of Regional and All Ireland Winners at the prestigious All Ireland Awards Gala Dinner, set to take place at the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, Dublin on May 4th.

Speaking about the significance of the Irish Restaurant Awards during the recent event, President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Paul Lenehan, said:

“Amidst the challenges faced by our industry, celebrating Connacht’s vibrant food and hospitality sector is more important than ever.

“The Irish Restaurant Awards continue to provide a vital platform to acknowledge the dedication of Connacht’s and the country’s talented restaurant, café and food-led hospitality staff.
