Local projects receive Pride of Place awards

Two Roscommon projects received runner-up prizes at the All-Ireland IPB Pride of Place awards at the Gleneagle INEC Arena in Killarney on Monday night.

Cloontuskert Tidy Towns expressed delight on social media this week: “We are absolutely ecstatic to have taken home the Overall All-Ireland IPB Pride of Place runner-up prize in the Housing Estates category at the Gleneagle INEC Arena, Killarney, Co. Kerry, representing the Abbey, Cloontuskert”.

Meanwhile, Project Knockcroghery and Knockcroghery Tidy Towns picked up the runner-up prize in the in the 300-1,000 population category.

  Posting on Facebook on Tuesday, the group said: “Our presentation talked about the various community groups that make Knockcroghery the inclusive special place it is. This is an award for us all”.

Both projects had been nominated by Roscommon County Council to take part in the prestigious awards which acknowledge the work being done by communities all over the island of Ireland.
