Crowds of people have turned out in Ballaghaderreen on this Friday afternoon as the remains of murdered Detective Garda Colm Horkan return to his native Co. Mayo.
People are lining the streets of the town to pay their respects to a popular member of the force who served in Ballaghaderreen and Castlerea.
This evening the cortege will pass through the town en route to the Horkan family home in Charlestown.
Detective Horkan, who was shot dead in Castlerea on Wednesday night, was based in Ballaghaderreen.
Meanwhile, the man who was arrested close to the scene on Wednesday night remains in Garda custody. He can be questioned for up to three days.
