Local men sailing around Ireland in aid of Lecarrow Benevolent Fund

Two local men are part of a crew currently sailing around Ireland in order to raise funds for the Lecarrow Benevolent Fund.

Owen O’Connor and Mossie Reilly, who are joined by Paddy Shryane and Paddy Mons, set sail onboard a 38-foot boat from Wild West Sailing on Monday in a bid to circumnavigate the island of Ireland.

Their planned voyage launched from Dun Laoghaire on Monday morning and will return to the same harbour on July 5th.

The Lecarrow Benevolent Fund was established in 2001 to assist groups and individuals in difficulty. It has since raised over €400,000 for worthy causes.

While a significant portion of funds are distributed throughout the parish, Lecarrow Benevolent Fund has also reached out to a wider area including County Roscommon, Monksland and Dublin.

A GoFundMe page has been set up and over €1,700 has been raised so far. To donate, visit www.gofundme.ie and search ‘The Lecarrow Benevolent Fund’ which was set up by Mossie Reilly.
