Two local students of the Convent of Mercy in Roscommon are representing Ireland at international level. In mid October Anna McCormack was a member of the Irish U17 girls soccer team which played in Turkey as part of the Euro qualifiers for the 2008 World Cup. She travelled to Turkey with the team for ten days from October 15th, returning just prior to the mid term break. Another sporting star is Leona Doolin, who will travel to Arizona in December as part of the Irish junior handball team.
