Local businesses sign up to prevent plastic waste

Twelve businesses in Roscommon town have signed up to Refill.ie, a project where participating businesses agree to fill reusable water bottles for free in order to reduce plastic waste from single-use water bottles.

Almost 2.5 million plastic water bottles are disposed of in Ireland every day, of which only 40% are recycled. Refill.ie aims to prevent plastic waste through reducing the amount of single-use plastic water bottles that are consumed, of which a very significant portion end up on our streets and in our waterways. They promote tap water refills and reusable water bottles as a sustainable alternative.

Reusable water bottles can be filled for free in any of the following locations in Roscommon Town:

– Comfy Cafe

– Gleeson’s Restaurant & Rooms

– The Melting Pot

– Harrison Coffee House

– Rogue & Co.

– Feast

– The Pepper Mill

– Corrib Oil Roscommon

– Walsh’s Texaco Spar

– Beár An Ráille

– Jackson’s Restaurant and Guesthouse

– Molloy’s Bakery and Fine Food Emporium

Plastic Free Roscommon is working with Refill.ie and is asking any Roscommon businesses that would like to participate in the project to contact them on their Facebook page or email plasticfreeroscommon@gmail.com
