Lisa (19) reaches final of top modelling competition

Lisa McGuinness, a 19-year-old Tarmonbarry girl, was one of the 21 finalists earlier this week in one of the most prestigious modelling competitions of the year – the Ford/Irish Independent supermodel search.   The final took place this week and was won by 16-year-old Lesley Taylor from Wicklow. To get to the final was a major achievement for Lisa, who was chosen as a finalist from a total of 3,000 girls who were interviewed by judges all over the country. The competition was open to Irish girls between the ages of 14 and 24.   Speaking to The Roscommon People yesterday (Wednesday), Lisa, who is studying physiotherapy at UCD said that to get to the final was great and that the whole competition was a fantastic experience.   ‘I’m only a part-time model and I intend to finish my studies, so this was a great experience. I will be able to do a few bits and pieces of modelling part-time, which will suit me fine, but I really enjoyed this competition and getting to the final’ she said.   Lisa is the daughter of Noreen and Brendan McGuinness and she has two brothers and a sister. It is thought that all the finalists would have a future in the modelling industry but it appear that Lisa is intent on completing her third level course at UCD.   A spokesperson for the 1st Option model agency, who were one of the organisers of the competition, told the People that the standard of the entries this year were the highest that they have seen to date.
