The Classic took place on June 16th, with approximately forty teams participating. The event was won by a team captained by Albert Looby. His colleagues were PJ Moran, Robert Hill and Liam McNeill. The presentation of prizes was took place in the clubhouse with special guests being Mr. Enda Flynn and Mr. Michael Lynch of Blue Sky Mortgages & Investments, the main sponsors of the event. A large number of additional sponsors (of tees) were acknowledged at the course on the day. During the presentation ceremony Mr. John F. Hanley, the President of Roscommon Lions Club, thanked all the businesses and individuals who had supported the event by entering teams on the day. He also acknowledged those who had sponsored tees and emphasised that the funds raised will be used by Roscommon Lions Club on its youth centre and suicide awareness projects. Mr. Enda Flynn of Blue Sky Mortgages (Academy House, Goff Street, Roscommon) said that as a new business which recently opened in Roscommon town Blue Sky were delighted to have provided main sponsorship of the Classic. He congratulated Roscommon Lions Club on its work and commended all who had supported the Classic. Mr. Albert Looby (captain of the winning team) acknowledged the important work undertaken by Roscommon Lions Club and applauded the group’s organisation of the event. Mr. Darren Burgoyne, incoming men’s captain, Roscommon Golf Club, praised Roscommon Lions Club for its community initiatives and said that the Golf Club would support the Lions Club in its worthy projects.
