Lights Chairman thanks local business people

Roscommon Town Christmas Lights Committee recently held its AGM in Gleeson’s Townhouse. Chairman John Doorly addressed the excellent turnout outlining a very successful year.             He commented on the great success of the festive lighting and paid tribute to the huge voluntary effort involved. He singled out many individuals for their work. These included, David Kearney, Gerry Dervin, Jimmy Servis, Aidan Donnelly, Henry Brennan, Kieran Hanley, the owners of the Teleporters with operatives, those responsible for Santa’s Sleigh and many more individuals.             The Christmas lights, no doubt contribute to the very busy Christmas trading period but as the Treasurer Liam Fleming stated in his report to the AGM, this success is achieved as a result of a very large spend by the Lights Committee each year. The treasurer’s reported showed a healthy financial position and the Chairman went on record to state the committee’s appreciation for all the subscriptions received from local business and professional bodies. The very busy Street Reps do an excellent job collecting the subs, without such support the lights could not be erected. The outgoing committee was returned unopposed to serve for the coming year.
