Irish Times columnist and Independent Chair of Ireland’s first LGBT National Youth Strategy, Una Mullally, will officially launch ‘LGBT Friendly Roscommon 2017’ at Hannon’s Hotel in Roscommon town next Tuesday (21st).
The initiative, organised by the Roscommon Children and Young People’s Services Committee (CYPSC), will support local service providers, community groups and sporting organisations to become more LGBT friendly through a series of awareness raising workshops and a code of practice.
Will Keane, Roscommon farmer and star of RTÉ’s ‘Only Gay in the Village’, will also speak at the event about his experiences as a gay man in Roscommon. The initiative has been developed with the input and support of children and young people in Roscommon, including Luke McEvoy, a secondary school student in Elphin Community College, who designed a logo for the initiative to help makes public spaces in Roscommon more LGBT friendly.
The launch of ‘LGBT Friendly Roscommon’ will take place at 2.15 pm in Hannon’s Hotel next Tuesday (21st).
