The Roscommon Arts Centre is looking for young people with lively imaginations to join them for ‘Playmaking’, their playwriting adventure for children aged 9-12. Working alongside Maisie Lee and Fionnoula Gygax, they will help make your story into a play.
You will spend two weeks at the arts centre this summer participating in exciting theatre-making workshops, before returning in September to finalise your script. Professional actors will then begin rehearsing the plays, which will be performed at both Roscommon Arts Centre and Backstage Theatre Longford/Aisling Festival in October.
To apply to for this free programme, write a short story (300-500 words) and a paragraph telling us why you would like to be one of the playwrights and drop it into Roscommon Arts Centre or email it to at: firstname.lastname@example.org. Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, 24th of May.
This initiative is part of Backstage Theatre Longford’s 2019 Artist In Residence Programme, supported by Roscommon Arts Centre and Creative Ireland.
