Leona Doolin/Hilary Rushe win minor doubles semi-final: Contesting two All-Ireland semi-finals and two finals over the weekend, Roscommon’s only win was in the ladies Minor doubles semi final at Tuamgraney. At Mullingar the Diamond ‘A’ doubles title was snatched from Roscommon and in Emerald ‘A’ doubles Offaly proved the stronger. At Coman’s there were three finals with Sligo winning one and Mayo two. All-Ireland ladies minor doubles semi-final at Tuamgraney (Clare): In the All-Ireland semi minor doubles Hilary Rushe and Leona Doolin of Comans were in top form beating Clare’s Edel Grady and Ashling Fitzgerald 21 8, 21 9. All-Ireland Emerald and Diamond finals at Mullingar: Roscommon contested two All-Ireland finals at Mullingar on Sunday and came up short in both. The best performance came from the experienced Noel Raftery and Pat Clarke from the Lisacul Club who lost out narrowly to Greg Sheridan and Patsy Hand of Cavan 14 21, 21 19, 21 17. In the Emerald ‘A’ doubles Seamus McHugh and Liam Grehan of the Curraghboy Club lost 21 4, 21 10 to Billy Mullins ad Jim Guilfoyle of Offaly. All-Ireland U-17 boys doubles semi-final at Clooncan: Tipperary’s Sean Harte and Damien Moore defeated a game but inexperienced Fergal Fitzmaurice and John F. McDonagh of the Clooncan Club 21 8, 21 7. Congratulations Enda: Congratulations to Enda Connelly, Turla, Ballymoe on winning the u12 40 x 20 Connacht title recently. A great achievement for Enda, who has a bright future in store in the handball alley.
