League action this weekend

Seamus Duke  Abbey Hotel O’Rourke Cup Kilbride v Kilmore (Friday in Kilbride at 8pm) This should be a good contest and with all the county players back with their clubs it will boost both sides. Kilmore are doughty battlers and they only went down to St. Brigids by two points which was a good performance. Kilbride have been holding their own without setting the world alight. If Kilmore have a full team out they could snatch an away win. Prediction: Kilmore.  Padraig Pearses v St. Barrys (Friday in Woodmount at 8pm) Pearses will be preparing for another assault on the senior championship now and they should be good enough to defeat St. Barry’s at home. Prediction: Pearses to win. St. Brigids v Elphin (on Saturday in Kiltoom at 8pm) Brigids were beaten by Strokestown in their last game (we predicted it too!) but I have a feeling that Elphin will pay a price for Brigids losing that game. With all their county players back Brigids will resume winning ways here. Prediction: St. Brigids.  Castlerea v Roscommon Gaels (on Saturday at Ballinlough at 8pm) Castlerea have been going well in the league but Roscommon Gaels have been inconsistent and they seem to have a lot of players injured. In Ballinlough I expect that Castlerea will win it. Prediction: Castlerea.  Western Gaels v St. Faithleachs (on Saturday at Frenchpark at 8pm) This should be the game of the round this weekend. The Gaels will be hoping to show some good form coming up to the championship but they will be stretched all the way by Faithleachs. When in doubt it’s better to go for the home team. Prediction: Western Gaels.  John Corcoran Menswear  O’Gara Cup All games on Sunday at 2pm Creggs v Clann na nGael ‘A’ (in Creggs) Clann started this league poorly but they have got into their stride and they should be good enough to beat Creggs, even in Creggs.  Prediction: Clann na nGael.  St. Michaels v Shannon Gaels (at Cootehall) A local derby and a cracking game in prospect. Michael’s love nothing better than to beat their local rivals and there will be very little in this game. I think that it might even be a draw. Prediction: A draw. St. Ronans v St. Croans (at Ballyfarnon) Ronans’ form has been inconsistent while Croans are going along very well in this division. They should win here on Sunday. Prediction: St Croans.  St. Brigids v Eire Og (at Kiltoom) Brigids’ second team have been doing very well but it would be a surprise if they beat Eire Og who should be too strong. Prediction: Eire Og.
