Launch of ‘The Land for the People’

William Keaveney’s new book, ‘The Land for the People’ relates a story of land agitation in the early twentieth century. It is mainly concerned with the unhappy relationship existing between Co Cavan landlord and Orange Order leader, Robert Henry Johnstone and his tenants at Aughrim and Williamstown. In their campaign for ownership of the land, the tenants enjoyed the support of the United Irish League. The book, which is extremely well-presented, retails at €€15 and can be purchased at Donie Keaveny’s, Glenamaddy (094) 96 59009 and Classic Film, Cashel Cross.
