A major fundraising initiative on behalf of Western Alzheimer’s Roscommon, in association with Cllr. Paddy Kilduff, was officially launched at The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon on Thursday evening last.
The event, a social celebration and charity evening which coincides with the end of Cllr. Kilduff’s term as Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, will take place in The Abbey Hotel on Friday, 27th of May, with all funds raised supporting those living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in the county.
Issuing “an open invitation” to all in attendance, Cllr. Kilduff asked people to “join in the celebration and consider taking a table”.
“We hope the event will be very successful, raising much-needed funds to help the many families using the services of Western Alzheimer’s,” he added.
Roscommon County Council CEO Eugene Cummins, also on hand to support the launch, remarked on the importance of “valuing the contribution of older people in our society” while wishing the initiative every success. He noted that people with Alzheimers “can lead and live a full life with support” and acknowledged the work of Western Alzheimers to help families make this a reality.
Services Manager Noeleen Rudden thanked Cllr Kilduff and all those who had come along to the launch for their support.
She outlined that all proceeds would help fund the charity’s range of services locally which continues to grow and includes the recently opened dementia specific Day Care Centre at Cuan Mhuire in Fourmilehouse. Cllr. Kilduff said: “We’ll have a reception, buffet, a raffle with some fantastic prizes, music with the wonderful Vinegar Bill and a DJ – so definitely a great night on the cards.”
Tickets cost €30 and are now available from Cllr. Paddy Kilduff on 086-2568570 or from Western Alzheimers Office, Goff Street, Roscommon. Tel: (090) 66 27816.
