A Market Kitchen Programme will be run on a series of Thursday nights over the next number of months in Gleeson’s Townhouse, The Square, Roscommon. The programme will feature a variety of fascinating insights into the produce and philosophy associated with the Farmers Market in Roscommon (which takes place every Friday morning, located next to Gleeson’s). The Market Kitchen Programme will be hosted in Gleeson’s and will promote the Farmers Market in a variety of ways. The series ‘kicks off’ with a fund-raising event for Bothar on Thursday, November 1 (in Gleeson’s Townhouse at 8.30 pm). That inaugural event will feature a fish cookery demonstration night, with Gerry Blaine from the Roscommon Farmers Market and celebrity chef Enda Conneally. Tickets (€20) for the event are available at reception in Gleeson’s and at the Farmers Market. All proceeds are in aid of Bothar. A second night in the series has already been planned – Thursday, November 15 – and it will coincide with the first anniversary of the opening of the Farmers Market. The event that night will focus primarily on Roscommon organic lamb and other meats. Another night in the Market Kitchen Programme will take place within weeks of the November 15 event and the campaign will be ongoing thereafter. Meanwhile the Farmers Market on October 26 next will have a Halloween theme. Stallholders will have a competition for best decorated stall and there will be fun for all the family, including a draw for a beautiful ring sponsored by Mary Raftery Jewellery.
