The third evening in this season of The Reel Thing takes place on Thursday next 8th November when Máire Ní Chathasaigh and Chris Newman take to the stage. The brilliant, innovative harping of Máire, Irish Traditional Musician of the Year 2001, and the astonishing virtuosity and versatility of English guitar wizard Chris, promise to get feet tapping. This duet are renowned for their performances which have been described as an addictive and stylish cocktail of powerhouse Irish dance-music, gorgeous airs, evocative old songs and striking new compositions – with shots of hot jazz and bluegrass thrown. Guests from the South Roscommon Singers Circle will take to the stage with Vinegar Bill’s vocal quartet, comprising of the O’Connor and Beegan brothers, to perform their unique blend of traditional and popular ballads also on the night. The powerful, yet sensitive and perfect four-part harmony of Vinegar Bill blended with the individual traditional styles of The Circle trio will present an interesting, exciting and contrasting selection of ballads.
