Last-gasp Lavin wins it for Strokestown

Roscommon Senior Football Championship Final:

Boyle: 0-10 Strokestown 0-11

A point in the 5th minute of injury-time from sub Tony Lavin gave Strokestown a dramatic one-point win after a tense SFC final in Hyde Park on Sunday.

The first half was dominated by serious injuries sustained by key players Cian McKeon Boyle (cruciate) and Paddy Brogan of Strokestown (dislocated elbow) and at half-time the sides were locked together at six points each.

It looked like Strokestown were set for a narrow win when they led in injury-time but Donie Smith landed a monster score from 60 metres and it looked odds on a draw until Lavin popped up at the death to win it for the Black and Amber, to seal their first title in 20 years.
