Ladies football news

It’s the end of another year and on the field of play there were mixed results. At senior level the year got off to a bad start and it didn’t get any better as the year went on. To have to compete against Mayo and Galway, who are the best teams in the country, was a bridge too far. Well done to the team management and the players – but we were out of our depth at this level.   Next season we will be competing in Division 3 of the National League where we will be hoping for a big improvement and in the championship we hope to be able to compete at intermediate level.    A new management team is being put together under PJ Shanagher and a thirty-girl squad will be assembled to train in the New Year.   At underage age level the results in 2007 were mixed, but hopefully the proper structures are in place to bring back success to the county. The structure for competitions for 2008 will be outlined at the first meeting of the County Board in 2008 and hopefully this will make the county teams even stronger.   Everyone involved in Roscommon Ladies Football wishes a very Happy Christmas and New Year to all our players, officials and supporters – and here’s hoping for a successful 2008.
