Ladies Football news

The Annual Congress will be hosted by Roscommon Ladies Co. Board and will take place on the weekend 7th, 8th and 9th March in the Athlone Springs Hotel. Proceedings get underway on Friday evening with the welcoming of delegates and a short meeting afterwards to discuss provincial accounts and affairs. Saturday gets underway at 10am with all reports and addresses by officers and guests and after lunch motions will be discussed. This will continue until about 5pm when the day’s proceedings close. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Liam Devine at 6pm and dinner will follow at 8pm.  Sunday starts at 10.30am when special guests will address Congress. Motions will continue if not already finished and then election of officers will take place. This year the president elect will be elected as will the new treasurer as the present treasurer is retiring after many years of service. There are three nominations for President – Kathleen Kane (Sligo), Joe Lagan (Derry) and Pat Quill (Wexford). The day’s proceedings will conclude with lunch. The opening rounds of the club league gets underway on Sunday.  Div I – Ml. Claveys (H) Vs. St. Brigids; Kilglass Gaels (H) Vs. Kilbride, Roscommon Gaels (H) Vs. Padraig Pearses, Eire Og (H) Vs. Clann na nGael. All games are at 2.30pm. Div II – Four Roads (H) Vs. Ballinameen, Oran (H) Vs. Boyle;  Div III – Strokestown (H) Vs. St. Croans, St. Faithleachs (H) Vs. St. Dominics, St. Marys (H) Vs. Shannon Gaels. The County Senior team play Sligo in Boyle at 11am on Sunday morning. This will give management a chance to put a team together for the playoffs of the League. Players will be notified.  Roscommon Ladies fixtures U-14 Féile Competition 2008  Sunday March 9th at 12 noon  At Ballinameen – Ballinameen Vs. Boyle; At Ballinlough – Michael Glaveys Vs. St. Mary’s. Sunday March 16th at 12 noon At Johnstown – Clann na nGael Vs. St. Ciarans; At Kiltoom – St. Brigids Vs. Roscommon Gaels; At Knockcroghery – St. Dominics Vs. Four Roads; At Ballinameen/Boyle – Ballinameen/Boyle Vs. Strokestown.  Sunday March 23rd at 12 noon Playoff Game: At Johnstown/Fuerty – Clann na nGael/St. Ciarans Vs. St. Dominics/Four Roads. Sunday March 30th at 12 noon – semi-finals Sunday April 6th at 12 noon – Final.  Note: In the event of a draw 10 minutes extra time must be played (5 minutes a half).
