Klassic Cleaners, the landmark Dry Cleaners & Laundry located at Church Street, Roscommon, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this week!
Since opening on the 20th of September 1993, brother and sister Liam and Mella Stephens, with the loyal support of their staff, have developed and nurtured Klassic Cleaners into a popular and successful business in the heart of Roscommon Town.
Reflecting on this week’s 30th anniversary, Liam told the Roscommon People: “Back in 1993, this was a new venture for our family. Over the years, we have built up the business, always making sure to innovate, in keeping with the changing times. We have always tried to be to the forefront of the industry”.
In those early years, Liam and his sisters Sinéad and Mella worked in the business, along with their mother, Alice. Their father, Padraic, was also a great support. (Now aged 90, Padraic remains active with Roscommon Tidy Towns!). These days, the business is run by Liam and Mella, both of whom are very involved in the local community over many years.
Liam Stephens says the success of Klassic Cleaners is attributable to a number of factors.
“We have had excellent staff over the years. And our customers have been very loyal and supportive. We are very grateful to our staff and customers for all that support over the years and wish to thank them as we celebrate this milestone. Mella and I also remain very grateful to our parents and family for their ongoing support”.
Range of services
Long established as industry experts, Klassic Cleaners offers a range of professional services, including dry cleaning, laundry, wet cleaning, ironing and alterations. Liam explains that the wet cleaning system allows for safer cleaning of delicate items such as beaded or decorated dresses and gowns, including wedding gowns and Irish dancing dresses. It enables the cleaning of deep dyed items without any colour fading. Meanwhile, at Klassic Cleaners they are very conscious of sustainability, and welcome the trend towards ‘repairing’ clothes with a view to reducing waste.
