Kilronan Castle named as leading vegan and vegetarian wedding venue

Kilronan castle in Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon has been named as one of Ireland’s leading vegan and vegetarian wedding venues by wedding website SaveMyDay.ie.

The website described the venue as “one of Ireland’s most luxurious wedding venues”:

“From intimate to extravagant, traditional to bespoke, this magnificent 200-year-old castle serves up both vegan and vegetarian menus.

“Menu highlights include pear, walnut and pickled celery salad; avocado and apple tian; rainbow beetroot and barley risotto; woodland mushroom and spring onion ragu; black curried falafel; and palate pleasing desserts like strawberry and bourbon vanilla Eton mess, and dark chocolate and raspberry plate chocolate crumble”.

SaveMyDay.ie says there has been a rise in requests for meat-free or plant-based menus.

Shell Holden, co-owner of the website, said: “Many couples are choosing delicious, versatile, and flavourful vegan and veggie fare for their wedding celebrations, be it fully plant-based menus or more meat-free options across their courses.

“From swapping the roast for risotto, lamb for lentils and chicken for chickpeas, SaveMyDay.ie’s wedding venue partners and their vegan and vegetarian menus wow with their creative cruelty-free canapes to delectable dairy-free desserts. At SaveMyDay.ie, we are delighted to showcase the best of Ireland’s vegan and vegetarian friendly wedding venues and help veggie-lovers plan their special day”.
