The Roscommon Hurling Committee yesterday announced that Johnny Kelly is stepping down as manager of Roscommon.
The announcement comes following a disappointing year which saw Roscommon relegated from the Christy Ring Cup and Division 2B of the National Hurling League.
The committee released a statement yesterday (Wednesday) thanking Johnny Kelly and his back room team for their work in 2017:
“It is with regret that Roscommon Hurling Committee announce that Johnny Kelly is stepping down from (the) position of Roscommon Senior Hurling manager.
“Following our chats with Johnny over the last few weeks he felt he was not in a position to lead Roscommon in 2018 due to workload and family. He also feels at the moment that he needs a bit of downtime from managing teams.
“The committee would like to thank Johnny and his back room team for their work in 2017.”
