Finding the right person for a job within your company can be difficult, but help is at hand in the form of Roscommon Supported Employment service, a free FÁS-funded service for employers in the county. The service matches the recruitment needs of businesses throughout the county with the skills and abilities of people who require support to enter the workforce. This is achieved by working in partnership with employers from both private and public sectors. The service has an excellent track record of finding the right person for the job. Employee skills are matched to job requirements and on-site training is provided by professional job coaches. Advice and guidance is provided to employers on FÁS incentives, grants and assistive technology that is available under various schemes. Employers of all sectors particularly those in the small to medium category engage directly with the service when they are recruiting staff. Many RSE job seekers find employment in micro based businesses and both employers and employees express great satisfaction with the ‘job match’. Public sector employers – Roscommon County Council, Dept. of Social Community and Family Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Food all employ clients of the service. RSE appreciates its valuable partnership with local businesses. There is a growing awareness that the core of any successful business is its people and that each business should fully represent the community in which it is based.
