Interested in a career in property?

With CAO offers currently being issued I have been asked on numerous occasions, what is it that you actually do? I think people find it difficult to understand what a Chartered Surveyor does on a daily basis and to be honest the answer to this isn’t exactly straightforward. Our role is extremely varied but the benefit of this is that it is always interesting.

At REA Seamus Carthy we have been asked to take students on for work experience and we have no hesitation in doing so. By spending a week or so with us on the road, in the office and at meetings, it provides the students with an insight into whether Property Surveying may be a career that they would like to get involved in. I have also been asked which subjects students may benefit from studying in their Leaving Certificate for a career in property.

If you have the relevant qualifications and are a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors you can travel and work abroad. The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland is an internationally recognised professional body that provides surveyors with a valuable designation, a mark of excellence that is valued throughout the property and construction industry worldwide. This therefore gives you the opportunity to work abroad and travel, which is a huge benefit!
