Injury-time penalty sees Gaels through

A penalty converted by Rory Carthy in injury-time saw Roscommon Gaels through to the quarter-finals of the Hodson Bay Hotel Roscommon SFC on Sunday.

In a dramatic day in Group A, any of the four teams could have qualified but the Gaels scraped through by a single point, 1-9 to 1-8.
In the other game in the group, Boyle were the comfortable winners against Western Gaels in Croghan winning by 0-21 to 1-12.
St Brigid’s were the comfortable winners against Michael Glavey’s in Group B while St Dominic’s pushed Pádraig Pearses all the way before losing out by a single point 0-15 to 2-8.
In Group C, Tulsk consigned neighbours and defending champions Strokestown to a relegation battle with a one-point win, 1-8 to 0-10, and in the battle of the top two, Clann na nGael were the seven-point winners against Oran.
