In-form hurlers set for league opener

Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A: Roscommon v Tyrone on Sunday
at Dr Hyde Park at 2 pm

There is an air of confidence surrounding the Roscommon senior hurling team as the new league season gets underway at Dr. Hyde Park on Sunday.

The team, under the new management of Kevin O’Halloran, Tommy Guilfoyle, Cyril Crosbie and Martin Beirne, won the inaugural Connacht League recently – and the players and management are now aiming for promotion in the league and a strong run in the Nicky Rackard Cup later in the year.

Several prominent names such as Padraig Kelly and Daniel Glynn are back on the team and management have been looking at several younger players too as they aim to build up a strong panel for the coming games.

Tyrone and Roscommon are two of the teams that would be favourites to challenge for honours in this division.

With home advantage, Roscommon will be favourites to start their campaign with a win ahead of a trip to face Louth the following Sunday.

With confidence high after that successful Connacht Hurling League campaign, Roscommon should open their campaign with two points in Dr. Hyde Park.

Prediction: Roscommon.
