The next meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place on Tuesday, 11th of March at 8.30 pm in the Dun Maeve Centre, Strokestown. After the meeting an illustrated talk will take place on the subject of ‘Passion, Mortality and Trade Symbols’ and will be given by Christy Cunniffe, Archaeologist, of Clonfert, Ballinasloe. There is a rich vein of these motifs both in wood, silver reliquaries and memorial stones throughout the West of Ireland and Counties Galway and Roscommon have their share. All welcome.
